OUR FAMILY
Co-founders Tash and Lukas have been personal trainers for most of their adult lives, and as much as they love their training - they're equally passionate about the culture and positive energy that a good fitness community can create.
Prime Athletica is a place where training and classes are defined by the knowledge and passion of our personal trainers, executed using the best equipment and conducted in a welcoming, friendly environment where no one takes anything but their training too seriously.

TASH KHOURY
CO-FOUNDER, PERSONAL TRAINER, CLASS COACH AND CERT IV NUTRITIONIST
STUDIO: FITZROY & THORNBURY
After 2 false starts at uni I eventually completed a bachelor in Entrepreneurship at RMIT, after which I moved to a cert 3 & 4 in Health and Fitness and became a Personal Trainer. This was 16 years ago and while life has evolved a lot since then, it still centers around people and training.
My passion in PT lies mostly in finding what motivates people because I think this is key to success and adherence and, is something that is constantly evolving. I think training offers people confidence they didn't know they had and is such a good outlet for so many of life's stressors. I get bored quite easily so I like to mix up training for myself and my clients with bits from many modalities, and chats thrown in for good measure.
Outside of Prime I love exploring new gyms, cooking and eating, planning - anything from holidays to goal setting, taking the fur-baby on long walks and being with people I love.

LUKAS PASHALIDIS
CO-FOUNDER, PERSONAL TRAINER & CLASS COACH
STUDIO: FITZROY & THORNBURY
I’ve been personal training for almost 20 years and strangely enough I still love it. Learning and continually evolving my approach to my own training and my clients, keeps fitness fresh for me. I love researching and keeping up to date with the latest science, bro science and deep diving into innovation in fitness equipment.
I’m super passionate about our gym and helping people who may not share the same level of passion discover their own affinity for fitness.
On a personal note, I'm pretty chilled most of the time and try to prioritise that as I get older and the pull of the daily grind rises.

MARILOU O'BRIEN
PERSONAL TRAINER & CLASS COACH
STUDIO: FITZROY
In school I was an extremely sporty kid and straight out of school I completed a Bachelor in Arts, majoring in Politics, then a Post Grad in Policy and Governance. The Covid lockdowns made me have a good hard think about what I really enjoyed and I kept coming back to health and fitness. So, I started my cert 3 and 4 in fitness then, and haven’t looked back.
I have a passion for improving people’s lives through exercise, improving sleep, de-stressing, changing habits and helping them feel like a stronger and fitter version of themselves whilst adding a boost of self-confidence.
I love being an accountability coach and seeing change in clients, from small to big habits. I've had clients who started off hating cardio and didn't run, request a running program and eventually complete a half marathon. This gives me so much joy. My main focuses and where I get the most out of training clients are mobility, postural improvements, increasing strength and learning new gym skills.
Outside of Prime I enjoy good food and wine, I love strength training and going for walks, especially in the sun. I like watching movies, reality TV and the AFL. I love spending time outdoors, escaping the city when I can - farm, beach or mountains, I don’t mind!

JOSH VARRASSO
PERSONAL TRAINER & CLASS COACH
STUDIO: FITZROY & THORNBURY
After finishing year 12 I found myself in an electrical apprenticeship, drawn to the challenge despite the extensive schooling it required. My love for sports and the human body eventually led me to pursue a career in the health and fitness industry, where I completed my Cert 3 & 4 in Health and Fitness alongside my apprenticeship.
Strength and Conditioning has been a significant part of my life, not only as my preferred training methodology but also as the foundation for my own CrossFit gym, which I owned and operated for about five years. The joy I get from coaching and training clients is unparalleled, especially when I see them mastering new movements or perfecting something as fundamental yet technical as the squat. Watching their progress in both strength and confidence is incredibly rewarding.
Building relationships with my clients is a core part of my approach. I love getting to know them, sharing laughs, and making our sessions enjoyable. Outside of the gym, I’m a proud dad of two beautiful girls, and I cherish every moment spent with them. I like being active, whether it’s running, swimming, or just enjoying simple pleasures like chilling out having a glass of wine, watching movies, or having a meal with friends. Recently, I’ve found joy in simply strolling around without a specific destination on my days off—though I’m starting to feel my age when a good stroll feels like an adventure!

BINNIE EDWARDS
PERSONAL TRAINER
STUDIO: FITZROY
I came from a beauty therapy background into fitness, and 10 years later, I genuinely love what I do. I have pursued self-development through my own fitness journey and over time, I have found my direction. I enjoy helping people to move better and prevent injuries, and support females in gaining confidence in their body, as I have done with myself.
Fitness has helped me with body awareness, feeling strong, and feeling really confident within my own skin. This is something I want to pass on to other females, and I will apply my perfectionist mindset to your goals.
I love mobility work, calisthenics, getting stronger with big compound lifts, and at this point in time, my own training is focused on body building as I work towards my first amateur competition in 2025. I am very routine oriented and my lifestyle centres around my dog Pebbles, training, eating and travelling with my hubby.

FRANK BASCETTA
PERSONAL TRAINER
STUDIO: FITZROY
Straight out of high school I started a Commerce degree. Simultaneously my passion for fitness grew and as soon as I completed it, I went straight into a Bachelor of Exercise Science degree and started working in the industry.
My first exposure with the industry was in athletic development, training athletes and the general population to perform better. As I moved through my career, my passion for strength grew and is where my passion lies today.
The strength continuum is quite vast and I enjoy most of it. From preparing clients for Powerlifting comps, to improving strength for daily function, helping runners get back to running marathons, or getting my older clientele strong enough to pick up their grand-kids and improve daily function.
Another passion of mine is nutrition and I am currently completing a Sport Nutritionist Diploma, which I will pursue professionally once accredited. As for myself, I compete in Powerlifting and outside of training I love travelling, eating, cooking and having a great time with my loved ones and mates.

MAI MENESES
PERSONAL TRAINER & CLASS COACH
STUDIO: FITZROY
Venezuelan, 100% powered by coffee and corn!
I started working as a Group Fitness Trainer in 2019, then joined the crew at Prime in 2020.
I have a passion for mental and physical strength and I attribute it to my background in KAJUKENBO (Hawaiian Martial Art). I truly believe training and a positive mindset help you to achieve a “long-life and happiness”.
I love getting people excited about Fitness. Like, if you have never been in a gym before, you are my kind of people! My focus is on ensuring training is challenging but sustainable. My style of training is predominantly Functional Strength however I really enjoy exploring new movements.
In my spare time I lift weights, eat lots of food, watch documentaries, films, enjoy a cup of coffee and spend time at home :)

TOBY FIRTH
FITZROY MANAGER, PERSONAL TRAINER & CLASS COACH
STUDIO: FITZROY
I started my career in the fitness industry more than 10 years ago in sunny England, moved over here around 5 years ago and I've not looked back.
Prime Athletica has been a new home for me where I get to work with a family of truly exceptional trainers. Fitness fads come and go, but having a core group of people around you who are so knowledgeable in the fundamentals means you are constantly improving as a coach.
I like training to be a fun experience. It doesn't have to be all regimented fitness programs or eating plans. Everyone is different and on their own journey, so my coaching style varies from person to person. The main thing is to have a laugh, and leave feeling better than when you walked in.
Outside of the gym, you can find me playing nerdy card games and petting cats. But if I'm at the bar, I'll take a whiskey sour please!

LIDIJA CLEMENS
PERSONAL TRAINER & CLASS COACH
STUDIO: FITZROY & THORNBURY
I’ve never looked back since stepping into a gym at 17. Exercise has always been a rock for me and the communities around it have help me through some of the harder times in life.
After 12 years in hospitality I made it my career, thinking I could make a positive contribution to people’s lives rather than just serving them alcohol.
Over the many years I can honestly say I’ve tried all forms of exercise and believe in the many merits of them all. You can be so creative with exercise and use it to problem solve people's little (or big) niggles. As a trainer I love seeing clients achieving more than they think they can and hopefully letting them see that exercise can be fun! That is the beauty of movement - it holds you in the here and now and you can put everything aside for that moment.
Outside of training, the things that make life worth living for me are cooking, gardening, looking after my loved ones (furry ones included), and I hate to say it - cleaning!

ZAC POLGLAZE
THORNBURY MANAGER, PERSONAL TRAINER & CLASS COACH
STUDIO: FITZROY & THORNBURY
After finishing high school I had no idea what I wanted to do with work or life. All I had going for me was Basketball and lucky I was half decent at it. All I knew was that I wanted to help people and be around people. So my coaches suggested that I look at getting into PT or Strength & Conditioning and I ended up doing both and loved it. Seven years on and I am more in love with it!
My favourite thing about coaching is seeing someone do something they never thought possible, reach their goals and set new goals. But most importantly, growing in confidence and gaining resilience.
Away from the gym I enjoy eating A LOT and I think it is such an important part of life to enjoy and have a good relationship with, because it is also a huge aspect of socialising. Work hard and enjoy life hard.
WORK WITH US.
Keen to join the family? We’re always looking for new trainers to join our team! No matter your background, who you love or what you stand for, we just want kind, open humans.
